CHAMBER EXPO VOLUNTEERS NEEDED ON JUNE 10TH


Greetings, Fellow Rotarians!  We all want Rotary to grow and prosper, so we're partnering with other local Rotary clubs to have a booth at the Wednesday, June 10 Chamber Business Expo (Radisson Paper Valley from 9 am-3 pm).  Our goals? 

1) To educate the community about what Rotary is and

2) To recruit new members.  

Please sign up to help staff our booth, which is #7 in the hallway outside the ballroom, or participate in Speed Networking.

JUNE 16TH MEETING-YOUNG PROFESSIONALS COMMITTEE

Join us on June 16th when the Young Professional Committee will once again be in charge of the entire meeting from bell to bell.  The meeting will include a special Father’s Day tribute by Dan Flannery as well as a panel of guests from other service organizations who will discuss the challenges and issues regarding how service clubs remain relevant

YOUTH SERVICES AND EDUCATION COMMITTEE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS


 

This year the Youth Services and Education Committee presented 6 Bright Future Award winners with scholarships to area schools.  

Claire Holeton from Appleton East will be attending Fox Valley Technical College to pursue a degree or major in CAN or a Nurse Assistant.

Hope Wheeler from Appleton East will be attending Fox Valley Technical College to pursue a degree or major in Early Childhood Education.

Ryan Kochanek from Appleton Central will be attending Fox Valley Technical College to pursue a degree or major in AODA Counceling.

Britiny Tank from Appleton North will be attending The Art Institute of Wisconsin to pursue a degree or major in Fashion Design.

Amara Hoffstatter from Appleton North will be attending Globe University to pursue a degree or major as a Veterinarian Technician

Mary Thao from Appleton North will be attending Fox Valley Technical College to pursue a degree or major in Pharmaceutical or as a Registered Nurse.

Congratulations to those winners and good luck to them on their future endeavors.  Thank you to the Youth Services and Education Committee for all of your hard work.

  • We had a moment of silence for James Dreyer who passed away on May 31st.  James was a member of Rotary for almost 24 years.  Our condolences to the family.

FVTC- PUBLIC SAFETY TRAINING CENTER


 
Fox Valley Technical College opened the doors to the new Public Safety Training Center in the beginning of this year.  Today our members got the opportunity to tour the new facility.  The facility is located on County Road BB in Appleton on 75 acres by the Outagamie County Airport.  The training they provide includes Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Protection and Wildland Fire.  They gave us a tour of the indoor classrooms and training areas which included: 2 Defense and Arrest Tactics Rooms, 2 Indoor firing ranges, EMS Lab and Ambulance Bay, Fire Training Area and Apparatus Bay, Fitness Center, Jail Training Area and Telecommunications Training Area.  Outside they showed us the area for Emergency Vehicle Driving Range which included: Off-road driving area, Pursuit Track, Skid Pad and Skills Pad.  They also have outdoor firing ranges.  2 50-yard tactical ranges, 100 yard firing range and a 300 yard sniper range.  Also included in the tour was the fire training section.  This included: 5-story class A burn building, Air rescue and firefighting training, burn pods, drafting pond, gas meter prop, HazMat, Vehicle Extrication and Car fire props, High-Angle/Technical Rescue, ladder training tower, trench and confined space rescue sprinkler lab and water and ice rescue.  Lastly on the tour we saw Scenario Village (River City).  That included Commercial and Residential Structures, Forced Entry/Tactical House, Permanent Mock Crime Scenes and Streets and Intersections.  We want to thank Fox Valley Technical College for allowing us to tour the facility.  A special Thank You to Mary Downs for arranging this visit, to Teresa Tuschl for putting everything together and to Josh Dukelow and his staff for being great tour guides.  If you enjoyed your tour, or did not have the opportunity to attend, there is an opportunity on June 10th to see another awesome part of FVTC… On Wed, June 10 at 4p the doors of the FabLab open to the public!
